July Has Been My Best Month for Art Sales So Far This Year

Just when you think things aren’t working out, life has a way of surprising you. July has been my best month of art sales this year, and I’m still taking it all in.
One of my biggest goals for this year was to sell a large-scale painting at a high-ticket price. It felt like such a distant dream, but this month, I did it. For the first time in my whole career as an artist, I sold a big original piece—and I can’t even describe how fulfilling that moment was. On top of that, I sold another original painting, making it two originals this month alone.

My new spiral notebook collection has been another highlight. When I launched them two weeks ago, I had no idea how well they’d do, but I’ve already sold more than I ever expected in such a short time. I’ve also sold two prints, one of them being a large canvas print, and let me just say—it looks absolutely stunning in person.
I’ve been preparing some paintings for the Washington State Fair that’s coming up in a couple of months, and I feel like things are really starting to line up. It’s a reminder that hard work, dedication, and patience truly pay off.
This is why I’ve chosen to stay a part-time artist. I create from a place of freedom, without the pressure of having to rely on art sales to pay my bills. That freedom lets me truly appreciate every single sale that comes in. I see so many full-time artists struggling, pouring their hearts out online because they’re trying to survive off their art, and I never want to feel that heavy pressure.
Months like these are why I keep going. I have an amazing support system. I have friends who believe in me, a job that keeps me stable, and this deep love for creating that will always drive me. When a good month like this happens, or even just one sale comes through, I’m genuinely grateful. Not because I need the money, but because every piece that leaves my hands is a piece of me finding its home.
